How Humans have impacted biodiversity?

The world is getting more and more technologically advanced by the day. And in doing so, humans are leaving an impact on the environment. Rapid industrialization and urbanization of the world are hugely impacting our ecosystem, our environment, and all the living creatures with the earth as their habitat.

The situation is now in dire need of a change as we are exhausting a lot of our natural resources and with all the other factors combined, losing the great biodiversity on this planet.

Following are the factors that are causing a loss of biodiversity

The exploitation of natural resources

when a natural resource is excessively used, it can cause exhaustion of the resource itself. For example, too much fishing in the same area may cause a decrease or decline in the availability of fishes itself. Similarly, hunting a specific animal in an area may endanger the species. Too much use of any of the natural resources may cause a decline of that substance.

Pollution

Human activities have a direct impact on our environment. the world we live in today is extremely polluted. The quality of air, water, and soil are all affected by it. The air we breathe is not as clean as we used to be. All of these factors have a very negative effect on our ecosystem. It has the ability to affect the whole chemical cycle of our environment and affect the population and abundance of a species.

Climate change

Climate change is the factor that has the most effect on the loss of biodiversity. For e.g.: too much heating of the earth’s surface due to global warming has started to melt much of the Antarctic region and has, in turn, affected the population of the animals adapted to living in very cold temperatures such as the polar bears.

Loss of habitat

Deforestation and industrialization have caused the conversion of animal habitats into a place used by humans. The loss of the habitat itself causes a decrease in the population of the species.
